#101 to #104 at Woodlands Historic Park, Victoria, Australia, April 28 2018

I've managed to visit Woodlands Historic Park at least once a week during most of Summer, but today was the first time I have been there in six weeks! Rain and a 10 day visit to Queensland, followed by my wife being overseas for work led to a fair whack of time off, and it has certainly changed a lot since the last visit! There's a lot more birds, but still not as many as I used to see when I first stared coming here about five years ago. And the insects have all but gone. Here's what I managed to photograph for the year list...

#101 - Golden Whistler

#102 - Brown-headed Honeyeater

#103 - Scarlet Robin

#104 - Tawny Frogmouth

#70 to #100 around Birsbane, Queensland, Australia

We just got back from a wonderful holiday in Brisbane! My wife, her mum and our eldest daughter went to watch several events at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. I got to go out with the camera!

We stayed with my wife's aunt in Sandgate, where I spent most of my time with the camera. We were staying right next to Dowse Lagoon which I visited every day that we were there. I managed to find two lifers at the lagoon - Cotton Pygmy-goose (photographed) and Pale-vented Bush-hen (seen well as it flew away from me, no photo). I could also walk to the beach that had migratory waders at low tide.

The only other places I made it for photography were a quick visit to the City Botanic Gardens where I found twelve Bush Stone-curlew, as well as a brief trip to Osprey House. Most of the photos here were from around Sandgate.

#68 and #69 around Anglesea, Victoria, Australia

A few weeks ago, my whole family (me, wife, kids) went out for the day around Anglesea. I managed to get a few photos as well! A magnificent Nankeen Kestrel hovering above the cliffs at Point Addis, and an out in the open Silvereye at Anglesea foreshore.

I enjoyed doing this VERY casual year. I posted images of my 'best' shots for 2018 here: http://andrewallenphotography.blogspot.com/...
