#165 to #171 at Kamarooka, Victoria, Australia, October 1 2018

I've been trying to get to Kamarooka for weeks, and today I finally made it! It was tough slog finding any birds, and the ones I did see were not very keen on having their photo taken. Still, I got on to some incredibly nice birds, and managed to get a few photos for this blog (as well as a few that are just too crap to post!)

On the way home I stopped in at Crusoe Reservoir where I continued to struggle with the camera, only managing to get a photo of an Eastern Yellow Robin.

#161 to #164 at Mangalore Flora and Fauna Reserve, Victoria, Australia, September 29 2018

I had a chance to get out on my own this morning, so I decided to head off to Mangalore Flora and Fauna Reserve, which is about an hour and a half drive from home. It was a hard slog all morning. I struggled to see much, but heard some nice species. What views I did get were fleeting, and I really stunk it up with the camera. I was considering not posting ANY of these photos, but I probably won't get a chance to with these species for the rest of the year. So here they are, probably my worst photos for the year for this blog!

#160 at Kealba, Victoria, Australia, September 26 2018

I was looking back though my year photos and realised that I didn't have a photo of a Spotted Dove, a very common feral species that I can easily find in my backyard. So I went out with the camera and waited for one to present itself, which took about 20 minutes or so!

#157 to #159 at Sydney Bicentennial Park, New South Wales, Australiam September 22 2018

My band was asked to play in Sydney, so my wife and I decided that this was a good enough excuse to turn the trip into a small holiday. Of course, I managed to pack the camera and had a chance to explore Sydney and look for some birds. We decided to check out Centennial Park, which was fairly close to our accommodation. We managed to find some nice birds, but then we ran into the incredibly helpful and friendly Steve, who took us to the roosts of two species of owl! Woo hoo!

#153 at the Laverton Creek Mouth, Altona, Victoria, Australia, September 3 2018

The weather has been amazing the past few days, so on Monday afternoon after work I headed to the Laverton Creek mouth in Altona where I had distant views of some Banded Stilt.Hopefully I can get out a few more after work in the coming weeks as the weather warms up and the sun stays out for longer!
